Hello there! I currently work in Iraq. I started working in Iraq almost a full year ago for KBR. The experience so far has been positive and the conditions vary from place to place. Generally you feel fairly safe (because you will be working *inside* bases and not outside). However the bases are still attacked on occasion by insurgents using rockets, mortars and small arms fire. All contractors for the company I work for (KBR) are issued kevlar helmets and vests. In some bases attacks are rare and in others fairly often (every few days). Regardless, contractor fatalaties are still very, very low. There are a number of advantages in working in Iraq: - US Expatrates (people from the US working overseas) enjoy tax breaks on the first 80,000 of earnings - you pay no taxes if you stay outside the US for 330 days a year. - Generally you have no expenses or very few expenses as all travel, meals, lodging, etc is paid for by your employer. One of the things you should be aware of is that your work in Iraq is more than likely in direct support for the military - which means you work 12 hours a day 7 days a week. The only offtime that you get is when you go on vacations (every 3-4 months generally you're given vacation). If you're interested you should go to http://kbrcareers.webrecruiter.com/
