Career Questions and Answers

My husband is colorblind and wants to pursue a career in heating and air conditioning (HVAC). Can he do this?
Asked by robbsgirl
I know there are many colors of wires when repairing heaters and air conditioners. He cannot tell many different colors from one another. I want to believe he can do this, but is it possible with his colorblindness?

I'm sorry, that made me laugh a little, as one of my friends are almost completely colorblind and it's kinda hard on him.. I agree with you and would love for your husband to persue this career, but it would be terrible if he did make a mistake in the colors and got electricuted or something. I'd hate for him not to be able to do something he likes, but maybe try to find something in the field that doesn't require color coding... (I don't know what but maybe theres something?)

A:
Yes. The only problem may come when he is applying the ground wire, but that becomes easy with practice.
