The main responsibilities of a purchasing clerk include record keeping, filing, data encoding of purchasing documents (e.g. purchase orders, purchase invoice, requisition forms, suppliers records, etc.) A general clerk has the same responsibilities i.e. filing, data encoding, record keeping, but not limited to the purchasing department. A general clerk's responsibilities may be in the marketing department, accounting or production depending on the position of his/her manager.
