Career Questions and Answers
Would this be depressing for you?

I have my college degree-B.A. in Spanish, & I moved to New York from New Orleans, expecting to make a better living, & I became homeless. Now, I can't even fulfill my dreams like working & going to school because my social workers don't want me to. I really want to work & go to school to be a Spanish translator/interpreter.

I have a B.A in French, and thee are many ways you can use your degree. I once worked as a program coordinator for a non-profit that implements a State Department program-- The International Visitors Council. There are 98 Visitors Councils throughout the United States. Having a foreign language is a plus, and you get to meet foreign diplomats.
Also, many multinational corporations are looking for bilingual customer service rep's. They will even train you to do computer tech support if you can offer your bilingual capabilities to assist foreign customers.
If your concern is finding a job while you are homeless, begin by volunteering your time to a shelter whle you are living there. Be creative, and follow your heart. There is a way out of this situation. I wish you all the best.
(I became a French teacher after volunteering at a nonprofit while I collected SSA disability. I volunteered as a GED tutor, and realized that teaching was my calling. I returned to school and got my teaching certificate in 2 years).

I'm surprised that the social workers wouldn't give you guidance to finding a career opening. Social workers always need a translator...perhaps they don't want you to work so you can collect a benefit from the state. You should inquire with a position at the local unemployment office.
I feel really bad that you are having a rough go of it...hoping your situation improves...
