How many hours of massage training do you need to start charging people for a massage?
Asked by kristin p
can I start to charge people for a massage after only 160 hours of training?

A:
Best Answer:
Licensed - almost anything goes.. Certified - must be over 500 hours of training

A:
That depends on the state you live in, and also the city you live in. If you live in say...Philadelphia you need 0 hours of training to advertise as a massage therapists because there are not city or state laws. Ditto for many places in California. In San Francisco, a mere 100 hours and an easy test gets you licensed. Check with your state or city department of health or www.amtamassage.org
