How can I become an Executive Assistant?

What courses would I need to take? Serious Answer only please. I forgot to Mention, I have been an Administrative Assistant for the past 2 Years. I just need to focus on something that is going to be more financially stable. I know that you have to work your way up, but there is a Degree that I have to get. Or a certain certificate. Thanks!

An executive assistant makes more money than a secretary and generally doesn't answer anyones phone but his or hers and has a better education. Anyway, I'm one and I got my BA in Business. The you start answering ads in the newspaper or online.

Take Typing classes, compauter classes especially those that focus Mocrosoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel ........also take an office etiquette class

fancy word for secretary. if you can work programs like excel, word, basic windows, know some basic accounting, proper language on the phone and in person, and are a highly organized person.

Various requirements for various companies. Often it's a 'work your way up' type of position starting off as a basic secretary. Rarely do you get in at that level, at least not without at least a few years of experience elsewhere. But I believe there are associate degree programs geared specifically towards secretarial work, however, a bachelors in business may be better suited for an executive assistant position. Seems many executive assistants do have legal secretarial experience or it is a requirement of open positions. Again, it will vary. Skills you will need are keyboarding, indepth knoweldge of word, excel, powerpoint, sometimes access; composition skills (for letter writing, reports, etc), accounting, general organizational skills, customer service, a backbone, professional appearance a must. That's the basics...there will be a lot of variation depending on the company and the industry as well.

You need excellent secretarial skills, a professional corporate wardrobe. Poised, punctual, diplomatic, strong work ethic, professional, anticipate needs, problem solver, trustworthy, polished, articulate, excellent writing and communication skills. Exceptional business and social skills. Previous experience as an assistant, working with high-level corporate executives (Fortune 500 companies). There aren't courses to take, it's "on the job experience." Start as a receptionist, or secretary in an office. If you "prove yourself," someone may notice you and offer you a job/promotion.

You have to start off as an administrative assistant first, then work your way up in administration. Most executive assistants have a few years of experience being someone's assistant. So look for admin jobs. You don't need courses, per se, but you need good typing, computer, communication, and organization skills, and you also need to be able to read your boss and work with different personalities.

The best way to get that job is to start grabbing the bull by the horns. Just be an executive assistant. You don't need the title to be one. Just go for it, and then get the fancy title later. Do things before you are asked. Have it completed before someone else (like your boss or their boss) even realizes it needs doing. Anticipate their needs. Get them what they need (which isn't always what they ask for). Start being known as the person who gets things done, the person who knows how and the person who knows what is going on. Start to stand out from the rest of the bunch. Get some skills the others don't have. Come up with ideas that save time and money. Fix something that isn't working procedurally. You will know you are on the right path the day your bosses boss starts coming directly to you. Executives want results more than they want certificates.
