what skills and education might be required for the position of hotel general manager with a major hotel chain such as Marriott International?

BS or Masteral Degree in either Tourism, Business Management/BA, HRM/HRA, Marketing AND at least 4-5 years experience as a manager in a hotel or similar industry or an equivalent years of experience in a related job and industry.
But really, it varies from one hotel to another but for a big chain like Marriott, there's a high requirement.

There are 4 year degrees in Hospitality.
