How hard was it to find quality employment after college?

I just graduated this past December from a private liberal arts college, but have been actively seeking employment since late October. It's starting to get aggravating, for the only offers I have received are for selling insurance. I had a 3.5 and majored in Business and Econ. I've been contacting businesses both via the internet, and snail-mail. I know the job market isn't that great, but does it usually take a long time? I'm looking nationwide, but as a recent grad I can't afford to fly all over the place to go to an interview.

It took me close to a year to find a job after I graduated.....
