An administrative assistant has more duties that deal with the other staff than a receptionist- a receptionist stays at the desk and answers phones.

An administrative assistant is more of a secreatary whereas a receptionist usually just answers phones, takes messages ands may hand out paperwork to be filled out by new patients/clients.
