How do you reenter the trucking Industry after not driving after not driving for two years?
Asked by msdevilish666
I have a friend that is trying to return back to driving but the companies will not hire him. He has a good driving record, a few endorsements, no accidents, and have OTR experience. But can't seem to figure out why he can't get hired.

If he has a current CDL, and everything you say is true, he is not looking very hard, or at all. Only other thing I can think of, he must be have a bad attitude and he lets it get show very soon in the interview.
There is something you don`t know, I feel he is pulling your leg

He may need to be a team/trainee/co driver for a few weeks before being a solo driver again. Try Swift, USA Truck, or JB Hunt. You'll need 6-12 months of current driving to get away from the slow govern trucks and better home time. Good luck to you.

Taking time off from driving is not something most companies hold against you. I work for a trucking company. We see drivers all the time that have taken some time off from the over the road scene. It is understandable. Imagine being away from your home and family all the time. It seems to me he is applying with the wrong places. If his mvr and work history are clean, he may want to get some details as to why he is being turned down.
