what can i expect from a career in dump truck driving?

hi, i live in northern new jersey and im thinking of making a career change and getting into driving a dump truck locally. i would like to know what i can expect from this job from experienced truck drivers as far as rate of pay, hours, how much time you have for morning break and lunch, what you do when you gotta go to the bathroom or anything else you can think of that will helpfull. thanks, your input will be appreciated.

Well, I am not a dump truck driver, but I have known some, and I used to drive tractor-trailers. Usually they get paid by the load, something like 10 bucks or so, depending on who you work for. As for breaks and lunch, well, I would just eat in my truck, but you probably get a half hour. When you gotta go to the john, you stop somewhere and go.

Most people I know that have that job, get burned out in about 5 years. Hopefully you would have made enough money by then to buy a couple of other trucks and hire a couple of guys to work for you.
