What's the difference between "File Clerk", "File Assistant", and "Records Technician"?
Asked by
What's the difference between "File Clerk", "File Assistant", and "Records Technician"? Is there any difference at all in these job titles? If so, what? TG: That doesn't explain why our law firm now refers to "File Clerks" as "File Assistants". It's the SAME exact job, with the SAME exact people, but the title is different. We aren't "assisting" File Clerks, we *ARE* File Clerks.

Best Answer:
Maybe 25 cents an hour? Records technician. That's really nice sounding. Kinda like calling the janitor a custodial engineer. Doesn't matter which you call them, they still have to clean up after our dirty selves.

A:
A Records Technician would have the higher paying job because this would entail not just keeping track of files but also making sure records are properly kept. Next would be the File Clerk, who would be in charge of actually moving the files in and out of the file room. After that would be the File Assistant, who would work under the File Clerk assisting the clerk.
