By the sounds of what you are wanting to do you need to contact the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) in your area. Most of the commercial jobs anymore are union. My husband is a IBEW member in a different state. Your abilty to start working as an electrician and even a foreman will depend on your level of education. You may have to go back to school. First you need to contact the IBEW and tell them your situation. My husband had to go through 5 years of school on the weekends and working as an apprentice during the day to be where he is now. It was not easy by any means. He had been a very skilled finish carpenter for 4 years, and a union carpenter for 5 years before going on to the electrical program. He is also a graduate of a univerisity with a degree in Construction Tech with a minor in business. He was not new to the construction industry y any means. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.
