What is the best way to start a career in social work?

My girlfriend has recently passed her a-levels and is interested in pursuing a career in social work.....any suggestions?

Get in touch with UCAS and they will tell you which university is doing the course, most start in September, she may have to do a joint degree. I did mine with psychology and sociology, usually a 3 year course. good luck.

my niece is a social worker i know she done 2 years at college 3 or 4 at uni and also lots of placements

There are two approaches. I'm not sure what "a-levels" are but they sound like a part of a UK based system. If it is equivalent to an undergrad degree she would want to go for a graduate degree in social work. If they are related to high school education then she should pursue a bachelor degree in social work. the other approach is to get a job in a county social service agency.
