If you want you could say as a laborer or look at some of the trades on the job and apply to become an apprentice. There are many trades you could enter and become a journey person.

I would form my own company. I assume that you have a decent grasp on your field. I would go to my local Real Estate Investors Group and let people know that you have experience in the field of building houses. There is a great need for people to run rehab projects for investors. Get in with two or three solid investors and they will keep you plenty busy. I don't know what the going rate per hour is in your area but lets use 15/hr. Charge 18-20 per hour plus materials. Hire 2-3 to start and pay them 14. You make 6-8 an hour per man you have on the site plus your wage. After time and hard work you may have 20-30 people working for you and you make 6-8 hour per man, now you are in business! Dream for the stars and you will walk on the moon, don't dream or think and continue on your current path. You can do anything as long as you are willing to learn how and work hard.
