Request to do a sit-a-long with whatever agency your thinking of applying with. This will give you an idea of what the work environment is like and it will help you determine if it is something you CAN and WANT to do. Stress is a big part of it, so is being able to multitask alot at one time. You'll work nights, days, evenings, weekends, holidays... alot of shift work to say the least. Depending on where you live, and the agency, pay/benefits can either be good, or bad. It can be very hard, but it can also be very rewarding.
I am a 911 Telecommunicator.

Are you one that can work with a lot of stress? Please consider calling your county, or city to find out how to apply for the position. Take care.
