veterinary assistant -how to get certified?

how do you get certified as a veterinary assistant? does this mean you take a program through a college offering a certificate program and after completed you are certified, or does it mean certified by the state with a state exam, or does it mean a degree?

Frankly the definition & requirements will vary somewhat state by state. I suggest contacting a local vet's office & after indicating your interest, ask for some details from a member of the staff at that office. Be sensitive to their time, & offer to stop by at their convenience or call again if they are too busy at that moment.
