A combination of both is essential. But I think being a secretary for awhile will heighten you experience level and taking a few classes to get certifications is also a definite plus. Executive Assistants are the creme de la creme of secretaries, so you gotta be on your toes. Experience and some education...both are great. Look into being a secretary and move up. It takes a couple of years maybe (search around Hotjobs to look up experiences). Best wishes to you, sweetie!
