Thanks for reading and helping me
I know this is a job for me, but I am nervous that I won't get to actually show them my skills because of a bad interview.
This is 911 dispatcher, what questions can I ask about the job at the end of the interview?
If they ask, why do you want to join us, What are some good reasons to tell them?
If I am asked what my weaknesses are. What are some good answers that are weakness, but actually will sound good too?

Hi; when they ask why you want to join them, why don't you start by saying how much you really want to help people in times of crisis? That you are passionate about being the first contact someone in need will have, and that you would feel a great sense of pride and responsibility in this position.
When they ask about weaknesses, what about saying that your main weakness would be caring too much, feeling too much compassion for the people at the other end of the line, but you would understand you have learn about being detatched.
Does that sound ok? I hope i've given you some ideas. I'm actually a Telephone counsellor for Lifeline, a crisis hotline, so these are some things we had to think about in our training.
Good luck.

Ask about the type of training you will receive, what types of shifts you will work, ask what a typical work day looks like.
If they ask why you want the job, answer honestly. It sounds like you want a job that helps people - this would be a good answer.
The weakness answer you will have to work on on your own. Without knowing you, it's hard to answer.

Be honest about why you want this job, only you know the answer to that.
Tell them a weakness you used to have and tell them what you did to overcome that weakness and then tell them you are uncomfortable talking about yourself, always have been and are naturally shy that way. Tell them you are working on that and hopefully your efforts will allow you to come across well in this interview. Ask for their opinion. It shows you encourage constructive criticism, know yourself and are honest.
Ask what they think is the most important quality in a 911 dispatcher.

Ask questions about the training, how long it takes, what constitutes a serious emergency, things like that.
For your weakness, just say one. Say that you tend to focus too hard on one task or have trouble delegating. Good Luck. I'd like a job like that!

Request to do a sit-a-long at that agency. That way you are showing a interest in the profession and you will also see what the work environment is like. It helps you decide for sure if this is something you CAN and WANT to do.
The profession is very stressful. They will be looking for someone that can handle immense stress; and multitasking is also a key ingredient to a good 911 Telecommunicator.
