A plumber is a great job. They can make $70K-$110K a year. It's a long process that requires 2 years of apprenticeship. The good news is a lot of plumbers moonlight and make cash under the table installing taps, toilets, basement renos etc..

My sister works for a plumbers/pipe fitters union....(in OR) The plumbers can make from $27-$36 an hr or more, pipe fitters about the same or more, depends on the job. But you have to WANT to work. (she says the 'guys' turn down a lot of jobs because they're lazy, so they always need people.) Look in your phone book under Unions and ask....
