What kind of education do book publishers / editors need to have?

I am interested in becoming an editor or publisher for a book company but am not sure what kind of education you have to have first before you should even bother them. I can't seem to find it on the web. All I keep finding is "if you want to publish your book". I want to go to college and get the education but I'm not sure what you would need to go into that. Does anyone know?

Your question leads me to believe that you don't actually know what a publisher does. It's unlikely that you will begin as a publisher. As for editors, we come from a variety of backgrounds. The link below will take you to a page that links to FAQ that will answer your question.
