What benefits do nursing assistants get?
Asked by MM
I'd like to know if nursing assistants, as opposed to nurses and registered nurses, get free healthcare or discounted healthcare. Exactly what benefits come with the job?

It depends on the employer... I was a CNA and had the same benefits as a newly hired RN, LPN, LVN....

It depends on where you are working, if you work at a good size hospital with at least 200 beds there's a good chance that they will offer health insurance to you. You will in most cases have to pay a premium for the insurance. At nursing homes they don't usually offer insurance to the nursing assistants. I've heard that they do but I have never came across that. Also if you are in a union you may be able to receive free or discounted health care at a union clinic. You might want to tell people what city you are inquiring about, maybe someone could direct you to hospitals that do offer insurance if they knew where you were.
