What should a person wear to an interview of a mail/file clerk position?
Asked by A J
There is this opening for a mail/file clerk position at an insurance company. What should a person wear to this interview? I don't think a suit would be right because of this position, right?

I'd go for long-sleeved shirt (don't fold the sleeves, please), a tie to match, dress pants (well-pressed), clean leather shoes and a POSITIVE ATTITUDE! Go for neatness and simplicity. Avoid loud colors. Don't forget the hair...visit your barber a day or 2 before the interview. Good grooming scores big points....we want to make a good impression. Keep that handshake brief and firm. Good luck, man...........go get 'em, tiger!

Dude I went to an interview today, was going to wear full blown suit, then decided nah left the coat in my car, get there and everyone interviewing me is in a suit. Suits are money man they make a very good first impression on people, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear one, it shows you take it seriously even if your going to low level jobs.

Business causal is always the way to go! Something sharp and clean. Not Jeans but also not too dressy. You have to happy medium between the two. The best idea I can give to you is going to a dept store and getting some ideas from some ladies that work there. You will get help with you look for you interview and maybe a date if you are lucky!!

The rule of thumb in business is to dress for the job that you want, not the job that you have. This also applies to interviewing. Wear a suit, but not a pretentious three piece. A nice blazer in a subdued brown or blue or grey. Mathing pants and a bold colored tie. The reason for the bright tie is to gain attention to your face (The eye naturally follows the color up to your mouth and face) and the bold color will also give the impression that you are confident and capable. Never forget to make sure that your shoes are in good condition, shined if appropriate and without scuffs. People will notice shoddy shoes.
