Is there money in having your own truck and welding machine?
Asked by camaro_cn_05@sbcglobal.net
Im a AWS and L.A city certified welder with only 3 months experience in welding with SMAW. Im thinking about buying my own truck and welding machine but I want to have someone work for me while i still learn some experience at the shop im working at. Is it a good idea? Want to know how to get jobs if i have my own welding machine and truck? How much to charge an hour and how much to pay the guy working for me? Is it a good investment? Any tips or ideas on what i should do?

Steady up i reckon. When youve got more experience welding you might want to head off to some other place where the type of work suits your fav type of welding and your tied to the truck. Im not being very clear but i folded up a small business to go to another country welding on the oil rigs construction side of things. my only regret is i took so d@m long to do it. Welding as a trade can take you round the world while earning top dollar. use it man

Ask around with people who do what you want to do, figure out what they do and how they do. Then also see if you can find a way to do it better.
