problems finding a job in michigan?
Asked by smooth3006
ive been un-employed for almost 5 months. ive been denied unemployment benefits twice already, because they say i quit my job of 8 years when i didn't. i used to live in macomb county, michigan. i moved over to grand rapids, mi. in december. i must of sent out, faxed and mailed over 60 resumes. ive only had a handfull of interviews so far. still nothing concrete and ive been turned down countless times already. im a mechanical / facilities maintenance tech for the last 10 years. i have plenty of hands on knowledge, but no degree in anything specific. im starting to get really concerned here and i don't know what the problem is. the one thing im most worried about is what my previous employer might be saying about me as we disagree about me quitting when i didn't . ive been as honest as i can about my prior work experiences and my qualifications. what do they look at in a pre-employment process. i had 2 interviews with the same company and went on a day in the field and was turned down.
i have sent resumes out on careerbuilder, monster... etc. and no my former job probably wouldn't hire me back and besides i live in grand rapids now. im also am already on the michigan talent bank job search website. trust me ive done it all, still with no luck.

Good luck!
P.S. If you were not fired, as claimed by your former employer, any chance your former employer would take you back?
