What is the first step in becoming a teacher?
Asked by ripley01
I have my BA in Psych and have about 10 years of management/banking experience but I want to change careers. I am moving to Oregon and want to know what the first steps are in becoming a teacher when you already have an undergrad degree, even if it's not in education..

Best Answer:
that depends on what grade level you're interested in teaching. Your best bet is to contact the schools you're interested in teaching at and checking with them what their criteria is.

A:
A masters degree.

you dont need a masters!! but you do need a college diploma in the specific study you are seeking (ie primary or secondary education)

Apply for teacher's college, but they will want you to prove why you've become interested in teaching and what background you have in it. First check what the application procedure requires and then you can decide how to make yourself "fit their bill".
