anyone ever been a cna for private clients?
Asked by mr_and_mrs.x
i am training to be a cna, i know that i will work in some kind of hospital or nursing home. I have a friend that works for only a few people a week, she works for them personally. I asked her if she is employed through a service, she told me that she anwsered personal adds from the paper. She says its a lot better than a nursing home or hospital. She says it doesn't pay as much, but she gets to know her clients a lot better. She says its a lot better for her and her schedule. Don't you have to have some kind of insurance or work under a nurse when you work for personal clients? Personal clients to me are people that pay out of their own pocket for services, instead of having a health service find someone to take care of them or their loved ones.

I was a private duty nurse ( clinical case manager)
I was paid a lot more than a hospital would pay
BUT there is No health care insurance, no pension, no vacation pay
you as a CENA will work according to the case managers and MD's rules
yes, the client pays out of their own pocket

Here is the issue. If you get that CNA and want to maintain it, you a HAVE to have a certain number of hours in a facility to keep the certification. I have done home health. I Hated it!!! The hours are uncertain. The family might be in town and you will be out of a job until they leave, the person might get sick and need to go into a hospital or nursing home. you do not have to carry insurance, nor would you be able to afford it most likely and no, you do not have to work under a nurse
