Asked by nathan d
I AM A FORMER US MILITARY VETERAN WITH LOT'S OF ELECTRONIC SKILL'S BUT CAN NOT SEEM TO GET AN DIRECT HIRE POSITION IN SAN DIEGO CA., BUT WHEN I GO THROUGH AN TEMP AGENCY AND SENT TO THESE FORTUNE 500 COMPANIE'S, I SEE ALL OF THESE ELDER AND YOUNG ASIAN'S WORKING IN THESE COMPANIE'S AS PERMANENT EMPLOYEE'S AND I WAS BORN HERE IN AMERICA AND FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY, BUT STILL THESE COMPANIE'S WILL NOT HIRE BLACK AMERICAN'S AND I SHOULD KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN SENT TO COMPANIE'S WERE THE EMPLOYEE COUNT WOULD BE 300-500 AND NOT ONE AFRICAN AMERICAN IN THE PRODUCTION/MANUFACTURING POSITION'S. WERE REGULAR EMPLOYEE, EVEN WITH MY HONORABLE DISCHARGE'S (SERVED 12yrs) AND MECHANICAL AND ELECTRONIC, SOLDERING CERTIFICATION'S, THEY STILL DO NOT EVEN GIVE ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROVE MY SKILL'S OR WORK HABIT'S. THEY JUST SEE AN TEMP, LET'S USE HIM UP AND LET HIM GO.

Don't get frustrated! I am a white American over 40 years old, served in the military for 4 years, and even back then was kind of the same problem. I have skills you won't believe, but never "shined through what I've shown" type of dilemma. Don't blame the Asians or the elderly. In a way, even though fortune 500 companies are a scam and should be banned, they are still a business and think like a business. When I was in business, I learned very quickly that I would hire Mexicans, Asians, older people before I would hire American born people. Simply because the majority of American born people are WORTHLESS, and screw it up for the rest of them and us. Asians are hard working and intelligent and make about $1.00 an hour in their countries for the same work, same as Mexicans somewhat, and for the elderly they are just killing their time from retiree boredom and are punctual, with a pension. You feel overwhelmed, and you are, but don't get frustrated, move to another country and teach English or whatever. You have to change with the times. I used to do comedy and had a saying. "As a straight white male doing comedy, I might as well be selling shoes." Sounds like the same applies for you. Start a business of your own if you can't make it, out of your house, to keep the overhead down. And never trust anyone, especially your own family.

Dude I have tried to gain employment in San Diego and it is ruff. A lot of people working for less than it should it pay. It may be your location and the number of jobs available. Quit taking Temp jobs unless they are with fortune 500's or they are temp to perm. Try throwing a few resumes to another geographical area. It may have less to do with the color of your skin and more to do with the area you are applying in. I loved the San Diego weather but I love the Chicago area job ops.
