What all is involved in becoming a commercial real estate agent?

I know that I need to get a R/E Licence but what about the rest? Is there a MLS type program for the Commerical side? Does the firm that you work for pay for that access or does each individual agent do that? What could a first year rookie Commercial R/E agent expect to happen in the beginning? Is there a better way to start off than just going for it? I this might be my calling but before I jump into anything, I want all the facts.

For starters I would go in and talk to someone in the business, someone that is successful in the business, and ask them what they did and what they would do differently. When you do that you will not only find out more about the business you seek, but you may find a valuable mentor. Good Luck
