Animal care job without biology degree?
Asked by LaX Chick
I am an English major who is starting to work on her Secondary Education degree as well. Although I love working with people, I have always had a very strong passion for animals and their care/welfare. I am currently fostering a dog and do some volunteer work at local shelters. It seems my ideal job would not only be a volunteer position, but I would have to invest money into it. I would absolutely love to work in animal assisted therapy, bringing my dog to hospitals and any kind of assisted living/nursing homes to comfort patients. You have to have your dog trained specifically for the position and pay a fee to become a member of the national association. I was wondering if there were any paying jobs working with animals I could consider that would not require any kind of science degree. Any thoughts? Anything else?

If you like to work with animals, you could check out becoming an animal control officer, humane animal officer etc. Each state is different on their requirements. Usually a degree is not required, but for advancement it may be.
