The Front Office is an operational entity so most duties for a developer would be for tactical and strategic projects that enhance or provide new capabilities for the operational FO. Methodologies and tools for solutioning vary depending on the organization, but banks quite often have a broad mix of both UNIX and Wintel technologies and it's not safe to just assume you'll just be doing .Net, Windows DNA and J2EE only.
