Hello, There are currently 2 ways to obtain a California CLS license. The traditional method is to apply and take the California State Exam for Clinical Laboratory Science. Information regarding this route can be found here: https://secure.cps.ca.gov/cltreg/examinfo.asp However there is another way to obtain your CA CLS license and that is by taking the ASCP (national certification) CLS exam. You apply and take the ASCP exam, pass it, and then apply for a CA CLS license. Theoretically LFS and ASCP are in contact so they will automatically forward your scores to LFS. Although this method to certification has been passed through legislation, the actual route is not in place yet. It should be implemented within the next few months. Here is more information on the ASCP exam: http://www.ascp.org/Certification/CertifyingExaminations/default.aspx Good luck on your quest to becoming a Califonia CLS!
