What steps would a college graduate in communications have to take in order to earn his teaching certificate?

My boyfriend graduated from UMKC with a degree in communications several years ago. He's considering teaching as a career; would he have to go back and earn another undergrad degree in education in order to teach high school?

Be it in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world, a relevant qualification must first be obtained before being able to teach in a proper institution. Currently, there are many different kinds of teaching certificate one can apply for to obtain the necessary qualifications. There is a standard set of procedures which has to be followed before the certification in teaching can be issued There are different types of teaching certifications available for different teaching purpose. A teaching certification is required for those interested to teach in either an elementary or secondary education. A teaching certification will also be required for people intending to go into specialized area of education such as dealing with early childhood, special education, and technical education. It might not be known to a lot but even substitute teachers are required to be holding a Substitute Teaching Certificate before they will be considered for any positions.
