It depends on the agency. In order to become a security guard, you usually apply to a security agency, who would then TRAIN you themselves if they offered it (sometimes they want you to be pre-trained.) then they would send you to a business office or some other place to work. Some agencies would want you to have a concealed carry permit, but it really depends.

well, i am a manager for my own investigation company and course of study is security guards. in the state of Texas you have to be 18 years of age, no criminal back ground history, and pass a written exam given by the state. you can actually take the test in the txdps web page for free. but, you'd have to be hired by a security company before you can be one.
