How can I get into the event planning industry?

I've tried looking on Craig's list and other job sites, but I think it's more like you need to know someone who works in the field already... Does anyone know anyone or any companies that do event planning???? (Specifically in the California bay area)....

Check with your local convention centers, even stadiums, Local florist might help but not sure on that one. I did get into it years ago but it was almost like you said, I knew someone. Good luck! It is a fun but very tiring job. You will put in long hours with very little time to eat sleep or breath. The more involved you get the longer the hours but to me it was so worth it.
