Is a police officer a good job to go for?

I'm 19 and considering a job in law enforcement, what are the Pro's and Con's I don't want too work in a big city either, I'd prefer a small municipality

girlwhoknowsitstrue...her answer is on the mark. Even in larger areas like Dallas TX, many apply but few are chosen or actually "make the cut". If you start at a big department and get a few years of experience...it looks GREAT on a resume when applying for a smaller city or town. That and military experience are a big plus and give you a leg up on your competition.
Many, many civil service exams....

Pro's - the retirement programs are really great Con's - many enter, few are selected - especially in the small municipalities.

Why do you want to be a pig? most people don't like them!!!......I like them for one thing.........BACON....Im just kidding but but a lot of people don't like them but we do need them so yeah go for it...would i want to be a cop no....would i like to be in the military...no but hey better you than me...

You will have to wait untill your 21 years old due to you can not posses a handgun untill that age
