What is the role of a contract manager and how do I get involved with that aspect of construction?
Asked by barefootbabee
I am an office manager for a small general contracting company. We would like to expand and offer our service some day as a contract manager as well and assist with the process of placing a project out for bid and getting the best prices and subcontractors. What else does a contract manager do on a project and what are the steps I need to take to help my company move in that direction?

Best Answer:
a project manager is in charge of the whole job making sure it runs smoothly and efficiantly, ordering materials so that when the plumber shows up he can work not have him show up and find out his material will be there in another 2 days ur not likely to see him back real soon, bacially a short answer is make sure everything is in place, on time, so that the job can move along as quickly as posible, if any contact needs to be made with the architect it goes threw u, everyones needs are directed to u to take care of so that the architect doesnt have 10 people calling him up asking questions they ask u u find out the answer
