What is a work day in the life of a professional chef like?

My 8 year old wants to become a chef, and is doing a report. We don't know any professional chefs personally. Thanks for any help you can give.

How neat that your 8 year old would like to be a chef! :) I can give you a website from the US Occupational Outlook Handbook for general information about training as a chef. www.bls.gov/oco and there is a 'search' box to type into. You may also want to search for a book on www.amazon.com and see if any chefs have written a book about their typical daily tasks as a chef. I'm sure that chefs, btw, have some sort of management position and is the main person to chose the daily special(s). If amazon does have any of those types of books, perhaps they can be found at the local library or bookstore. Good luck to both of you! ;)
