LEED construction? any LEED AP'S?

I am currently an estimator (commercial/Industrial) construction. I am also working on a graduate degree (construction management). I know the basics of LEED and the the info from the usgbc site, but just wondered what LEED AP's do. Do you consult? are you more engineering? Is it an additional part / backup for another job? How was the testing and can it be self taught (my current job does not expose me to any LEED experience).
