I work in activities and we have to plan our activities around a chosen theme for the month. Or theme for June is Farm Days, can anyone help me think of any movies that have to deal with farms or farm life or activities that deal with farming in general? Thanks much!

I assume that working in a nursing home you're wanting fairly easy-going movies with no tension or violence... Maybe Chicken Run or Babe?

A:
There's a farm in Secondhand Lions Field of Dreams has a field There's a lot of farmland in O Brother Where Art Thou Babe has a sheep farm I'm sure there are lots of farmer documentaries The issue is, farming is pretty boring work, and so the only stories about farming will probably be tragedies. Oh, there's Animal Farm Uh, they farmed humans in The Matrix Pulp Fiction, not really a farm film, but it's a good one!

"Places In The Heart" with Sally Field would fit the bill. See the info on it at the below link.

Instead of movies, have you considered, in my opinion, the best television comedy ever, Green Acres. Eva Gabor is the "dumb blonde" who always came out on top and her husband, the big city lawyer, never did. Their awareness of the "rolling credits" is priceless. It is extremely "G rated" and most of your residents will recognize much of the cast. Pat Butram was a B western staple. Eddie Albert was an exceptional hero a Taroa and Frank Cady was the man sleeping on the balcony in the Hitchcock classic "Rear Window".
