How do I fill out a resume/application without references ?
Asked by dracos24
For 6 years, I held three jobs, then for the past two years I've been essentially unemployed, working with friends/relatives doing oddjobs under the table. I have no problem succeeding in an interview. No criminal acts, addictions, whatever problems. I simply have no recent references, and even the outdated references I could dream up from my previous 'meaningful corporate employment' would be tangential at best, and most likely not even working at the previous place of employment. So how do I manage to get past the "list as many previous employers, their phone numbers, blood types, average heartbeats per day, and no friends or family please" and still manage to get an interview ? I'm not really looking for a serious career, either, just a parttime, somewhat better then minimum wage job that can help with bills without drawing directly from my savings.

Say, my computer crashed and I cannot access my old or, use your friends and relatives, as references, they are not going to ask if he or she is a friend or relative.

I am a manager of a large retailer. I don't know what to tell you because without at least two references, I won't even take your application seriously. Do you have a teacher you could use?
