what is the advantage of taking a management positon?

I'm currently working for a newspaper delivery crew for my university. My manager is leaving and he wants me to take over his position. I know the stress involved in management and is something i'm not really looking forward to it, but i don't want to let him down.. does any1 have any advice? Help...thanks

A management position has dis-advantage and advantages, as you are asking only for the advantages... I will sum-up the most common ones I know comparing with what you have now: - More responsibility (power) - In the short future an increase of salary (sometimes immediately) or other benefits - Able to change things - Improvement or a step up of your career. - Improvements of your abilities : Flexibility, organization skills and become ambiguous.
