You will get a better education at a 'real' university instead of a technical school, but the tech school will give you hands-on training that you won't get at the university. Example: my ex went to a 2-year program in Biotech. I did the 4-year Biology program. She knows how to do all that cool lab stuff they do on CSI. I don't know how to operate those PCR machines, but I know exactly what they do and I understand the meaning of the results. She wouldn't know if the results were wrong and has no idea how the machine works. I know how it works and what it does, but I've never actually used it. Do you see the difference? She has the technical skill, but I have all the in-depth knowledge. Training as a medical office assistant is done at a tech school because it is a technical job. It doesn't require in-depth knowledge of the subject and requires very little medical knowledge. It is essentially a secretary position with a little extra stuff. Going to university to learn that kind of thing is out of the question. I would suggest making your short-term goal to get a college degree. You will probably change your mind about what you want to do with your life, and going to a university will give you more choices. If you go to a tech school, you will have one choice, the career you trained for.
