What would be the average amount of schooling after high school to become a physician?

Does any one know how much schooling is usually needed of college and medical school to become a physician?

4 years undergrad tests & acceptace to medical school 4 years medical school (when you graduate here you are "Dr. Smith", but cannot practice. acceptance to residency program 3-5 years internship/residency THEN you are a doctor who can practice!

4 years college, perhaps 4 years of medical school, which may include the specialty area (i.e., gynecology, opthamalogy, obstetrician, etc.), residency....

At least 8 years, Ask you family doctor, He or she will be happy to advise you. Oh and keep your grades VERY high.
