20 bucks per hour. But work is computed 84 hours per week. It's one of the deadliest jobs in the world. You work in the middle of the sea and you can't just leave whenever you want to. You're stuck there. You don't get laid until you get home. http://offshoreguides.com/entry_level.asp

A few years ago, they started at about $20/hour. You'd fly out by helicopter and stay on the rig for 2 weeks straight, then you'd fly back to the mainland for 2 weeks off, or at least that was how this one particular company was running their rig in the Gulf of Mexico. I'm sure schedules can vary some as can the pay. Experience will help too.

One of my friends is working in an oil field near Casper, WY. He's making a ton of money but he works really, really hard for it. He has two weeks on and two weeks off and he doesn't get reception on his cell phone half of the time so we only hear from him about once a month. He's saving up his money to open his own business so he's not planning on staying with it much longer.
