I was a heavy equipment operator for a couple years, pay was great, work was plentiful, but that's here where I live. Some states its very seasonal so they actually make more money than I did, but are out of work more often due to weather. I enjoyed the job very much but found a better career field but wouldn't hesitate to go back to it. Operated Backhoes, road graders, D-5 & 7 dozers, Michigan loaders and a host of other equpment, my favorite was road graders, had to pay alot of attention but enjoyed it and was fairly handy with one. And I started at 17.32 an hour and finished almost two years later at 18.75 that was 2003 to end of 2004.
