I am trying to get in the fishing industry but most of my work experience is in different areas. What do I do.

You can start at the bottom, like everything else.

The problem is that you need to find contacts....that's key. If you have a summer free, then one of the best ways to get some hands-on experience and make contacts is to go on one of these Alaskan fishing jobs. You can typically find flyers for these at most colleges. It's hard work since you are basically working as a laborer but it'll provide some good pay for a few months worth of work and probably give you some contacts as well.
