I have an interview at a correctional facility for a correctional officer 1.?
Asked by Ithought_she_was_1
I had an interview at this same location in Dec, but didn't get the position. I need to know how to successfully answer the questions like "why should we hire you"? Describe yourself with five adjectives. It's really hard to for a person to describe him or herself. Please does anyone have any suggestions?

Usually, they decide if they like you within the first 30 seconds.
Answers:
I'm a hard worker
I'm loyal
I'm efficient
I'm intelligent
I'm a team player
Smart, funny, intelligent, go-getter, hard worker.
Send a thank you note after the interview, ask them when you can expect an answer (as you are finishing the interview), then if you still don't get it...tell them to F@%^ OFF.
Patrol the streets, it's a better job anyway. Maybe the universe is telling you that you don't want to work in a PRISON!!!

Turn the question into " Why should I hire me?" then look for the answers.

Interviews are about selling yourself. You have to make yourself look good and sound professional. When they ask you questions like "why should we hire you", just tell them what makes you a good worker. Tell them:
"I am a hard worker".
"I have experience as a correctional officer (or security)".
"I enjoy working as a part of a team".
"I am responsible and I am reliable".
Things like that. Things they want to hear. It is also good to give your interviewer a copy of your resume.
After the interview call them back in a couple of days and bug them about the job. Tell them you had an interview and ask them if the position has been filled. If not call them back in a couple of days again. It is also good to send the recruiter or who ever talked to you a thank you letter or email for the interview. Good Luck!

Sounds like you must be in Georgia, my niece didn't pass the interview process either. She was applying for the same position. She has been trying for the last two years to get a job at the same place that keeps having openings for correctional officers but for some reason she can't get passed the interview process.
