I have a question for those I.T guys out there !!!?
Asked by Sergio R
I work in a Data Center but more on the maintenace side I work closely with Network guys so im always purging them for info like a leech. But I dont have any certifications or college I was thinking of studying some I.T and making myself more marketable. I was thinking of going to Fast Train (here in Miami FL.) but was told that if I know a little bit I could just take the exm and not waste the money. What should I do is I.T still hot right now?Is it worth it? and are they right?

You coult try to bypass the certification schools and study by yourself, but know that almost all the good certifications are very hard and the self-study route would take a lot of time. So you have to ask yourself "what is more important, the time or the money for the certification course?"
When I was on the "certification track", my study method was to pre-study for a week, take the certification course, then post study for a week, then take the certification exam. Using this method I was able to get both my CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, and CCDP within seven months. Additionally, I really, really retained most of what I learned and could use it on the job.
So what are the 'hot certs?'. In my opinion, the quickest way to get a good IT job is to get the following three certs: CCNA, MCSA, and Security +. This shows most employers that you are well rounded in networking, systems administration, and security - the three crucial factors of any good IT shop.
