What is a CDL ?

What exactly is it? I see in the paper places hiring CDL drivers...do you have to be 18?

California Drivers License. Most places require you to be 18, being a driver and all, but check around there might be a place hiring that doesnt require you to be 18

you all need to get ur facts straight... a CDL is a commercial drivers liscense...you need one to drive buses, limos, taxis,semi's, etc. basically any public vehicle. my dad has one

CDL stands for commercial driver's license. Most Trucking companies won't hire you unless you're 21.

it stands for Commercial Driver's License. It is required to be able to drive vehicles with a Gross weight in excess of 26,000 pounds.... You have to take a seperate test to get said license: <<A prospective driver must pass a written test on highway safety and as well as test about different parts of a truck with a minimum of 30 questions on the test. To pass this knowledge tests student drivers must correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions. To pass the driving skills test the student driver must successfully perform all the required driving maneuvers this portion of the test requires. Commercial drivers license is correct. and all you people who don't live in California we also call our drivers license that! to avoid confusion here in cali most places will advertise for a CADL if they only need a regular licensed driver and a CDL for a commercial driver.
